Helpful House Fixes You May Have Missed

My husband is constantly telling me how to fix things I didn’t even know existed in my house, but once he shows me I realize how important that object or fix is. My children and I are encouraging him to write a book about all the hidden home objects that might need care. We are convinced if something ever happens to him the house is going up in flames. Let me tell you what I have learned from him.

Your refrigerator has a filter that needs to be changed every six months. Did you know that? I had no idea. It is under the bottom of the fridge and when the light turns red it needs to be changed, so if you have had your fridge for ten years and never changed the filter it is probably time. You can buy them at any hardware store.

Check your pipes. We were walking through the basement when my husband said, “Oh no.” which is never the beginning of something good. He noticed the copper pipes were leaking. He told me he would have to buy a pipe, replace it, and solder it. My reaction was, “You know how to solder?”

A toothbrush is a handy cleaning tool. Do you have mold anywhere, or need to clean grout? A toothbrush works wonders, but make sure you put it somewhere so that no one uses it on teeth.

Your washing machine needs to be cleaned too. There are several products out there to run through a cycle without any clothes to remove odors.

Put a dryer sheet in your vacuum cleaner to keep everything smelling cleaner.

Baking soda is a great toothpaste.

I know I am forgetting some, so I will write again soon!
